Description
Victorian Reverse Cut & Hand-Painted Glass Obelisk Paperweight | White Floral Spray Clear Crystal Prism
Product Description:
Clear glass obelisk paperweight in a tapering triangular prism. A white blossom with green leaves and yellow filler is hand-painted so it reads through the glass from the front (reverse-painted / reverse-cut style).
One long edge is irregularly faceted; the piece stands on a flat base. Unmarked in photos.
These prism weights were made as desk accessories and parlor décor. Similar examples are catalogued as late 19th to early 20th century; list as Victorian-style unless dated.
Condition: Check chips on corners, clouding, and paint loss (common on the reverse).

Style / technique
Reverse painting on glass: the image is painted on the reverse and viewed through the polished face. On obelisks, the back is often cut or hollowed so the flower sits in the prism. Collectors search reverse painted obelisk paperweight, cut crystal obelisk, and Victorian glass paperweight
